The Jeju Food and Wine Festival was held on Jeju Island for the second time. The festival tries to bring together famous chefs not only from Asia but all over the world. It offers a wide variety of cuisine and entertainment with the fresh and seasonal ingredients from the island. For three days of the festival Grand Kitchen with masters, taste Jeju local food, garden dinner and gala dinner took place in the island. The events focused on the outstanding quality of Jeju’s agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors. It also contributes to the promotion of next-generation Korean culinary talent, upgrades the local MICE sector and boosts the overall tourism and gastronomy sectors. One of the main events was Grand Kitchen with Masters, which took place on the first day at Halla Convention Center. In this class, six top chefs demonstrated their signature dishes and techniques. They also created recipes with selected Jeju ingredients. On the last day, a 6-course gala dinner was offered by top chefs and wines were paired with each dish. A portion of festival proceeds will be donated to Halla University and several culinary institutes to develop talented young chefs.
