<기자>Korea’s global ranking in tourism competiveness has jumped to 19th out of 136 countries. It improved 10 notches from 2015 previous report due to eased visa requirements and an increase in bilateral air service agreements. According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korea improved in 11 out of 14 areas, including market openness and infrastructure. However, the country lost ground in several criteria such as Health and Hygiene, Human Resources and the Labor Market. Korea ranked 42nd when World Economic Forum first released its report in 2007 and it is climbing its way up, since then. According to the report Spain, France and Germany kept their top spots as tourist destinations. The others in the top 10 were Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Italy, Canada and Switzerland.
